Though it may sound like a no brainer… it’s the mind’s job to think. This is the literal truth. You may know this intellectually, but do you know it experientially? Just as your heart beats, your eyes blink and your lungs breath without any help from you, so does your mind think. You don’t have to stop what you’re doing to instruct your heart to beat or lungs to breath… they know exactly what their jobs are and how to do them. The mind is the same. Its job is to think… HERE COMES ANOTHER ONE! We run into trouble when we attach to every thought as though it were true. What if all of our suffering isn’t created by external events at all? What if our own suffering is caused by the thoughts that we have about those external events? Everything is what it is and completely benign until our mind's attach meaning. When we meet our thoughts with understanding; when we stop arguing with reality… peace and balance are restored and joy becomes a real possibility. What thought separates you from happiness? Where are you arguing with reality in your life? Reality is internal... only always and suffering is always optional.

This forum is for people who have attended the teleclass: WHO WOULD YOU BE?... WAKING UP TO REALITY, or for anyone interested in The Work of Byron Katie. Questions and discussions welcome.

Warmly, Sandra Harris
